Panthers Represent Region 5-4A Well
Congratulations once again to the Maplewood Panthers on their outstanding 2007 season. The Panthers, under head coach Ralph Thompson, advanced to the state title game in Class 4A, where they dropped a 28-13 decision to Maryville.
Once again our region showed itself to be among the toughest in the state in any classification. Maplewood's appearance in the title game was the fifth time in the last seven years that a team from Region 5-4A played for the state title.
A number of the region's top players return in 2008, including Hillsboro's Eric Gordon, Maplewood's Markus Cantrell, Shelbyville's Emmanual Andrews, and Tullahoma's T.J. Stubblefield. Be sure and start coming back to Region54a.com in early July as we will preview each team and announce the 2008 preseason All-Region team. |
